Sofia

After joining EU, Sofia looks like Poland 10 years ago. It is generaly under construction :) Plus of course 10 degrees Celsius difference in the air tempreture :)From up, the pictures are:
1. Vitosha - mountain 2290m high right next to Sofia. To me it's amazing, since Warsaw is on a plateau. Vitosha is full of woods, great, great views and it is quite wild. A lot of people goes there during weekend taking walks and riding bicyckles. One of Vitosha peaks was still covered in snow, and people of Sofia were still going to ski for half an hour every day. We drove to one of th elower Vitosha peaks, but unfortunately my batteries got finished :(
2. Time has stopped for Lufthansa in Bulgaria. Very old advert, still hanging on one of the main boulevards in Sofia. It is a relict of comunist times and a shame to Lufthansa, I believe.
3. The biggest greek-catholic church in Bulgaria. Bulgaria is full of ancient monasteries, which we didn't have time to visit. The country is very old and the beginnings are dated VIII century B.C. (ancient Tracians culture). Country was under occupation for 700 hundred years - first 200 years of Greek hegemony, than Turks for 500 years. It is amazing that they survived as a nantion with their own language.
4. Bulgarian Parliment. Quite small :) But the country isn't big either, although very beautiful, with warm Black Sea coast called "Golden Sands". Bulgarian cousine is delicious and full of vegetables, great meats and wines, selection of cheeses and legendary yougurth, which you can cut with kinfe.
I hope I'll go there again soon and see more beautiful places. The pictures were taken from the car. Probably that's why the quality isn't impressive.
